Loughcrew 36 Target SBG

20th November 2011

Spot on for Loughcrew.
Well, what can you say about this one ????(nothing but good things) We had perfect weather with plenty of blue skies and no wind. It was perfect weather for shooting. The new improved course was a joy to shoot, with some fantastic shots. Tweaking your course can be tricky to get it just right, but you could tell that a lot of thought and expertise went into this one to get it SPOT ON!
It was a pleasure to shoot and we had a great day out. A perfect end to the season and a day that I won't be forgetting in a hurry.
Thank you for the wonderful trophy, it now has its own special place on show for all to see.
Thank you to all from Loughcrew who had a part in putting this one together. A job well done!
Roll on next year I can't wait to shoot it again.

What a great day Sunday turned out to be, after a week of rain.
Don, Willy, Sean, Pat and all the club got a perfect day for their SBG. As usual the woods were in great shape and the whole thing was made more interesting by the Croc by the pond , the Zebex ( Don named it ) and Don P's Woober Dingle !! I hope I got that right !
(In Bavarian folklore, a wolpertinger (also called wolperdinger, poontinger or woiperdinger) is an animal said to inhabit the alpine forests of Bavaria in Germany. It has a body comprised from various animal parts — generally wings, antlers, tails and fangs, all attached to the body of a small mammal. The most widespread description is that of a horned rabbit or a horned squirrel)
Great day, great crowd and some great soup provided by Fred at half time, it was also great to shoot with new historical bows from WQM
Well done Don and the Gang

Thanks to all at Loughcrew for a brilliant day out. The woods are beautiful. The course is terrific with really clever target placement. It was nice as a left-handed archer to find that I wasn’t expected to engage in all sorts of contortionism in order to be able to see – not to mind saying shoot at – the targets.
The soup was appreciated and the company was wonderful. It was particularly entertaining to watch the Crowes shooting crows! Thanks again.
Adrian & Sarah, Dunbrody Archers

This shoot was so good that I'll write a poem about it

This was a most fantastic shoot
Although for me it's a very long route
There were lots of happy archers gathered there
Sixty I'm told, a number quite fair
The targets were really so well laid out
As perfect as possible I have no doubt
The zebex was a very strange creature
And the flying bird was a challenging feature
And then there was the crocodile
When I killed him off it made me smile
And as for the bear in the avenue of trees
With an arrow I zapped him dead with ease
A good old natter while sitting in the tent
A raffle ticket was money well spent
A cup of soup and a roll to eat
A satisfying meal you could not beat
So out to hunt I go once more
And bringing in a winning score
Thank you Loughcrew for a really great time
And now I can't think of anything that will rhyme with "time" except rhyme, lime, climb, dime, grime, mime and porcupime
